| View from clock tower on St Cuthberts Church in Church Street looking northwards up the North Bank. Just after the arch in the left hand foreground is the Methodist Chapel which has now been demolished with a fine new building taking its place. Just after the Chapel are the remains of the Iron Foundry. Immediately beyond the railway crossing and still on the left is Belmont Lodge, the cluster of houses to the left being the area called Belmont. The fine houses lying east-west are Belmont Gardens. In the right foreground is the roof of a factory housed on the site of the old station yard, the small stone building beyond that is our small library. Across the railway line is the Fire Station with its tower beyond is Alexandra Terrace. Above which is a private dwelling 'The Mount'. On the right beyond the signal box is the former Congregational Church now being turned into an artists studio.
